3. Brain boost
Green tea shows promises for protecting brain health. A study showed that those drinking green tea one to six days a week have less chances of mental decline compared to those who did not drink tea. Green tea drinkers are also less prone to dementia. Those who drank green tea showed increase connectivity between the parietal and frontal cortex of the brain. The increased activity was related to improved performance in working memory tasks. It is also suggested that green tea may be useful for treating cognitive impairments. One of green teas components, polyphenols, are said to be responsible for this effect to the brain. Two of green teas many compounds called L-theanine and caffeine can also boost levels of attention and alertness.
