Beet juice has been shown to significantly lower blood pressure. Beets are rich in nitrates, which are converted in the body to nitric acid. Nitric acid relaxes and dilates blood vessels, helping to reduce blood pressure. They are also high in potassium which also acts as a vasodilator.
