12. Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful disinfectant and can help reduce the severity and duration of a cold sore. Hydrogen peroxide also introduces oxygen to the sore, which assists the healing process. It’s best not to use hydrogen peroxide full strength as it can sting, rather dilute it one to one with water. Simply dip a cotton bud, or a cotton ball, in the diluted mixture and hold it on the sore for about 5 minutes before rinsing off. Keep repeating every few hours until the sore is totally healed.
