5. Coffee.

As if you needed any more reasons to have a cup of coffee in the morning you now have another. Coffee (or the caffeine) typically works in the body by constricting the blood vessels, but in the lungs things are a bit different. The compounds in coffee work to expand your blood vessels in the lungs and when you sip on that cup in the morning, you help your asthma symptoms immediately upon waking. This effect can last for a few hours depending on your body, which means you may need to have another cup later on in the day if possible. Consider having a cup of coffee of six ounces or more to help decrease your asthma symptoms.
