12. Unexpected Weight Loss.
Obesity is a problem in the U.S. and there are millions of adults who have issues trying to maintain a proper body weight. However, if you have been losing weight and you have not done anything to provoke this weight loss then you should tell your doctor, as this can be a sign of a serious disease, including COPD. COPD can cause your lungs to work harder, through faster breathing, which can actually increase your energy burn throughout the day. If you are currently not at risk for COPD and are trying to lose weight, do not attempt to increase your breathing rate, as this will be an ineffective way to lose weight.
