11. Chemical Irritants
Why It Happens: The chemicals found in cigarette smoke, exhaust fumes, household cleaners and industrial solvents can irritate the nasal membranes and lead to nosebleeds.
Additional Info: In addition to irritating the lining of the nose, these chemicals can also damage the lungs, leading to serious health conditions like emphysema and lung cancer.
What To Do: If you smoke, quit! Try to avoid exposure to chemicals by using non-toxic cleaners in your home and taking precautions when in proximity to harsh chemicals. Use of antioxidants, like carotenoids, flavonoids, selenium and vitamins A, C & E, can help to protect and reduce the negative impact on the body.
