16. Losing Too Much Weight Too Fast can Lead to Obesity.
What? Losing weight can increase the risk of becoming obese? Yes, this is definitely so. Many adults tend to go on the starvation diet for a week, weeks, or even a month and tout that they lost 20 pounds in a month. This can be a dangerous way to increase your health risk because when you lose a lot of weight in a small amount of time, your body adjusts by reducing its metabolism. After all, lighter people have smaller metabolisms. Once the weight comes off, old behaviors tend to settle back in and weight gain comes back, it typically goes further than where you were before. This is called “yo-yo” dieting and can be very dangerous for your heart health.
